"The Golden Rule" by Mark A. Anderson is another Christian book that teaches children from ten to twelve years old how to do to others what you want them to do to you, in a great story form. It is written as five stories, each portraying a different commandment from the Lord. It is easy to read and use for discussions between the reader and adults in the room. I believe this book is a great tool to help kids learn how to treat others, be it property or persons. It tells them we are all the same before God and that God gives us commandments to make us safe and free. In this book the reader will find the commandments portrayed in each story. The first story represents “Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long.” The second one, “Thou shalt not kill.” The third one, “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” The Fourth one, “Thou shalt not steal.” And the last one, “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.”
I found the stories different and open minded. It is a wonderful way to teach and to learn the golden rule. Many children in our days believe that the world owes them something and become pests to society. This book will help the teacher make a point about doing to others what you want them to do to you. In this collection of sample stories, the reader will find great lessons that should be passed on to the next generations.
