The God Scrolls is a Tale of Aliens, Egyptian Priests, and the New World Order. I found this novel by Michael J. Rhodes a real delight. I like this particular blend of archaeology, history, and conspiracy theory. Trust me, this kind of story, written well, is better than an Indiana Jones movie. And Michael J. Rhodes writes very well indeed. I knew it from the first scene of the novel between an Egyptian shopkeeper, who is more than he appears to be, and the tourist, who is more than even that. I guess this kind of book is not for everyone, especially those who frown on ancient texts that might contradict the Bible, but I love this kind of mental exploration of the past. I have often thought that there must be more to our past than our histories and our religions maintain, and I love intelligent, thoughtful supposition about ancient civilizations and the beings who may have visited them.
I liked The God Scrolls as an idea and I’m happy to say it works very well as a novel too. Michael J. Rhodes writes well enough to make characters who might have the capacity to become stereotypes into real people with real feelings and desires. He takes a fantastic plot and grounds it in reality in such a way as to make it very believable. That is the most wonderful thing about The God Scrolls. It is a very believable story based on some fantastical suppositions. The writing and Rhodes's in-depth knowledge of history make this a story you don’t want to miss!
