The God Makers is the fifth book in the Sisters of the Storm series by Guy Estes. Aleena (a warrior) and Baezha (a sorceress) are sisters by choice. While they are very powerful, they carry guilt heavily in their hearts. The sisters did end the monsters of Shingora, but they are troubled by all the lives they could not save. Devastated and riddled with guilt, Aleena and Baezha vow to find the alchemists who created those monsters and bring an end to their reign of terror. However, when they get news of some alchemists setting up shop, Aleena and Baezha know they need in-depth information on them. These alchemists call themselves the God Makers and their master, Arleth, plans to destroy everything these two women love. It is now up to Aleena and Baezha to protect innocent people and bring an end to these alchemists before it is too late.
The God Makers was a fantastic fantasy story that blew me away! The story is richly detailed and features well-developed characters with incredible emotional range. Baezha and Aleena are two very memorable characters that are confident of their powers, comfortable in their skins, and understand their purpose in life. They have a goal and work toward it together as a team. I loved how they conversed with each other. It is almost gentle and very respectful. They completely trust each other and follow their instincts. The antagonist of the story, Arleth, is a despicable person who only values himself. Guy Estes did a wonderful job of portraying the antagonist in his true light and gave readers insight into his mind from time to time. The narrative is smooth and the pace is fast, a combination that works every single time. The dialogues are crisp, the overall feel of the story is intense, and the ending is satisfying!
