The Forgotten Sky by R.M. Schultz is a gorgeous treat not only for fans of science fiction but for any reader who adores superior storytelling. It is a fast-paced, riveting story following six unusual characters as they pursue a perilous mission of bringing down the most powerful corporation in the galaxy — Northrite. Northrite is run by six masked councilmembers, and the corporation is not just powerful but oppressive. At a time of unrest, six people from different parts of the galaxy, united by a common dream, set out to take vengeance on Northrite. Nyranna of Uden wants to save her people from oppression. Seeva is an operative and an activist who stands against the poachers who kill endangered species for profit. Cirx is a knight haunted by the evil that destroyed his people. Rynn is on the run from her home planet and in search of her mother. Jaycken wants to master the powers of the Elemiscists, a young military man with a lot of daring will. These characters are linked by their common goal to destroy Northrite.
R.M. Schultz is a great storyteller, and his effects are spectacular. This sci-fi novel bubbles with inventiveness and is packed with lovable characters, each of them elaborately written and relatable. The descriptions of the struggles of the characters are vivid, and from the start of the story, readers are already fascinated with the conflict between members of Northrite, the councilmembers, and the Elemiscists. Northrite abuses the Elemiscists, people with magical abilities, in many ways. The scenes are fascinating, focused, and the author creates events that grab the attention of readers and force them to follow the realities in the characters' worlds as they shift from one perspective to another. The Forgotten Sky is packed with action and adventure, a story that will keep readers turning the pages. This is a book for anyone looking for high-energy science fiction. It is deft, balanced, and utterly satisfying.
