The Forbidden Fruit, a personal memoir written by Tina Scott, chronicles the story of her life since childhood. The book is subtitled A True Story of Sex, Drugs and the Afterlife. From childhood, Tina faced challenges that mainly originated from her father’s suicide. Full of anger and with no real friend Tina embarks on a rebellious route all the way to her college days. She never truly dealt with her pain. Her first marriage is perhaps a reflection of this condition. Her life is filled with her kids but the shadow of drugs still haunts the young mother of three. Putting an end to her marriage after three children is hard but one of the best decisions she’ll ever make. Later on, she finds love and stability that she lacked before. Being the parent of six kids is not easy but is better because her husband supports her.
Tina Scott has lived on this earth for six decades and The Forbidden Fruit shows the lessons that she’s learned in retrospect. The story is authentic and scandalous at times but it gives one a feeling of witnessing someone’s honest truth. Tina is a spirit medium who believes her gift is God-given and led by the Holy Spirit, which might offend strict Christians. However, I would like to advise all people young and old to read this book because it has gems of wisdom that can’t be found anywhere else except through experience. You may not approve of swingers or communicating with spirits but you will be uplifted by a story of love triumphing over addiction and changing your life for the better. Seeing the world through Tina’s eyes is an eye-opener and now I definitely know how to deal with beggars in Nepal if I ever go there.
