I wanted to be a scientist and go into space. I got my B.A. from Columbia University in Mathematics and Astrophysics and I worked at NASA on the Pioneer Venus Project as a programmer. I received my masters from U.C. Berkeley in Education of Math, Science, and Technology and went on to earn my doctorate in education. Together with my husband and business partner, I conceive, design, and create products, ideas, websites, and exhibits. Along the way, I've learned how to write.

Cindy Rella, the main character of The FATOFF Conspiracy by Olga Werby, struggles with obesity like almost all people in the world. Rich people can eat all they want and their extra fat is stored in fat storage tanks that are in a different dimension. So you really just "beam" your fat away - at a cost. Some poor people can receive government funded assistance to help with their extra weight, and there is also a lottery that will give some lucky people the chance to become thin within minutes. Cindy has a plan, but thanks to her family and her circumstances, it goes awfully wrong. People start to die because of accidents with the fat storage system. But are they really accidents or is there a larger issue? Cindy meets some new people, and learns that there is a different way of losing weight, a way that might just save her life and the lives of others. It is a way most people would never think of. But does it come early enough for Cindy?
I picked up The FATOFF Conspiracy by Olga Werby because I have enjoyed other books by the same author. The genres were completely different though and this book isn't what I usually read. However, the writing style and imaginative plots of the other novels had me intrigued and I simply wanted to read a bit more. It amazes me that one author can write such different books with such very different plots and do each of them very well. I have to admit I liked her other books better (because of the settings and genres), but I also enjoyed this one very much. It had a very unusual plot and you just couldn't help either liking or hating certain characters. The plot also made me want to find out who makes it to the end - and believe me, some people find a rather tragic and gruesome end. Some developments come as quite a shocking surprise, so the book was truly exciting to read.
