The Fairytale, The True Story of a Mature Couple and Their Adventures in Italy, Sicily, and England as They Take One Last Chance at Love by Debbie Mancuso is a memoir about finding love again at any age and under any circumstances. Debbie and Preston’s love affair began when she was forty-four, and he was unhappily newly married. They started a tumultuous secret affair that ended. Five years later, Preston sent her a letter from jail out of the blue. They began corresponding as friends and are reunited when Preston is released from jail. They decide to tie the knot when she is sixty-four, and he is seventy-eight.
Author Debbie Mancuso shares her amazing love story that has lasted the test of time and separation. She takes the readers with her as she plans her dream wedding to Preston in Italy. Her story is one full of beautiful life lessons. It is a story of love, not having a deadline or a timeline. It is filled with hope and faith that the reader will close The Fairytale feeling uplifted. I also loved reading about her lifelong passion for Italy and all the spectacular spots they visited on their honeymoon. I learned a lot about Italy and Sicily as she shared the highlights of each destination. I especially enjoyed reading about the magical village of Sperlinga, where her Uncle Sal grew up living in a cave with his family. Mancuso’s true life love story is stranger than fiction but no less riveting.
