Kaly thought she was just a normal human being like everyone else. But when she becomes the target in Lucifer’s newest attempt to escape his prison, the veil is lifted once more as she learns through frightful experience that her parents have secrets – and she’s one of them. The Exiled: Continuation (The Exiled Trilogy, Book 2) by Scott Borgman continues some years later, when David and Celeste decide to tell their daughter who she really is. Lucifer is much more powerful this time, and his plan to escape his prison is better prepared than his previous one.
The angels and fallen angels are back, with some appearances from vampires and werewolves, the classic supernatural creatures. The plot from Book 1 is well developed into Book 2, with Kaly and other protagonists taking the center stage from her parents, David and Celeste. The solid quality of characterization is maintained; each persona is believable and the characters are given room to grow, which gives them substantial depth.
The quality of the writing is flawless as expected, and Borgman once again handled the concept of the story well. The myths, origins, and the rules that the gods have to follow are convincing. If I may say, Book 2 is even better than its predecessor as I much prefer its plot. The action and suspense held my interest from start to finish. On the whole, The Exiled Trilogy fans will not be disappointed with Continuation. I look forward to seeing how the story progresses in Book 3.
