The Dreamer by Joy Redmond is about nine-year-old Julia who is a dreamer. She lives in two worlds - the real and the unreal. Her real world consists of her parents and grandparents, Nana and Pawpaw. Her other world is the one that exists in her dreams. There she and Nana are friendly with a baby deer, that can speak, and the baby deer's parents, that can also speak. Julia gets close to the baby deer and she starts finding out a lot of things about it.
The book is very endearing because it challenges you to think more about the real and unreal. Julia is a small girl who finds it difficult to make a distinction between the two worlds. A talking deer is something that will make anyone's imagination soar. The author's creativity is also something that should be appreciated because she teaches you how to daydream.
The Dreamer speaks of a child's secrets, her lessons, her hopes, joys, dreams, miracles, and her perspectives which make her look at the world in a different way. The talking deer inspires anyone to dream. I would recommend this story for adults too. For once, it will take you away from reality into a world of dreams where you will feel like a child again. It also opens your imaginary side and gives you ample opportunities to experiment and try out new avenues to explore.
