Author Biography

I worked at the University of Toledo, near the museum in Monroe, Michigan, which included Custer artifacts. He always interested me and I imagined a diary left by one of his men that revealed all sorts of things about the man so much has been written about. Once I got going, the characters took over: the history professor, his beautiful Indian student, the militiamen who wanted to block its publication, and the Indian activists who did too, for quite different reasons.

The Custer Conspiracy by Lorin Lee Cary follows a college professor, Walter Reeves, and his student, Sally Wolf. One day, Sally receives a historical journal from her uncle. It contains startling secrets surrounding the lesser-known facts of General George Armstrong Custer's life. Sally asks Walter to assess the journal. If the book proves to be authentic, it would guarantee Walter's career advancement. Unfortunately, Sally is abducted by Native American activists who insist that Walter surrender the book to them. At the same time, a militia group is also in hot pursuit of claiming the journal for themselves. Both factions have distinct reasons for not wanting the book to be published. Walter travels to Montana, hoping to confront this conflict once and for all. Eventually, he will have to come head-to-head with both groups. Will he rescue Sally in the end?

The Custer Conspiracy is an exciting, quick-paced, and adventure-packed historical thriller. Walter and Sally's unpredictable journey makes for an intriguing and captivating read. They quickly become enmeshed in a series of schemes and secrets, overshadowed by humor, action, conflict, suspense, and a bandwagon of other colorful characters. Lorin Lee Cary's historical expertise is apparent as he crafts a highly realistic plot that sets a militia group against an extremist Native American group, where both sides are determined to keep the truth about Custer from coming to light. The author offers several electrifying plot twists, making this novel hard to put down. Likewise, the comical antics of the militia add a welcome breath of fresh air to the plot. Fans of National Treasure and Tomb Raider will enjoy this lively, engaging, and enthralling tale.
