Everyone dreams, and those who remember their dreams will be able to understand them better with the help of The Curious Dreamer’s Dream Dictionary: How to Interpret Dream Symbol Meaning for Personal Growth by Nancy Wagaman. The book contains 1500 symbols and explains what they might (or might NOT mean). It is not only a dream dictionary though, because the author also helps readers to understand the meaning of dreams in regards to their own personal life, feelings and circumstances. She wants to help readers to grow and develop by helping them understand the messages their subconscious wants to send them with various dreams. She even tells you which dreams you can simply ignore!
I sometimes have really interesting dreams and wanted to see what The Curious Dreamer’s Dream Dictionary would have to say about them. I’ve tried a few dream dictionaries in the past, and so far have only found one that didn’t seem to turn everything into something Freudian. Fortunately, this dream book does NOT fall into that category. The author seems to have a real understanding of how dreams and the human mind work. I was relieved when I saw that she understands that dreams are something personal and unique to each dreamer, i.e. when I dream of a seagull, I dream of a bird I really love. For someone else, it might be a nightmare with a pest they despise! Many dream dictionaries make the mistake of assuming every dreamer is the same. I really enjoyed reading this book and browsing through the different symbols – it’s well written, well thought through, and definitely better than most of the competition on the market!
