The Cupid Chronicles by Dennis Copelan is a paranormal comedy-drama novel set in the fictional Paradise City in Heaven in 2063. Pixel Millet, a social worker in the Paradise City Department of Discipline, finds himself unwittingly assigned to advocate on behalf of Cupid-1637, who has been charged with the violation of Cupid's Oath. Cupid-1637 now risks being flushed to the lower regions as punishment. To identify his infractions, Pixel and Cupid-1637 go over the cases he had handled over the decades. In one instance, he costs millions of dollars in losses to a magical lamp company. In another, he oversaw a love potion being implemented in all the wrong ways. He may also have contributed to the death of an elderly man who wished to reunite with his dead wife. Can Pixel save him from being flushed?
The Cupid Chronicles is an amalgamation of interconnected stories that are bound to make you laugh, break your heart, and entertain you all the way through. Author Dennis Copelan's tales function as satire and romantic-comedy in equal measure. With quirky characters in ever-ridiculous situations, you're bound to have a good time. I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry and banter shared between Pixel and Dean. The narrative flows past at a steady pace like a gentle breeze. Although I loved every single one of Cupid-1637's adventures, "Love Potion Number Nein", "Froggyland", and "The Dating Bureau" were my personal favorites amongst the bunch. Overall, The Cupid Chronicles is filled with wit, charm, heart, and humor. If you're a fan of well-written satire, I highly recommend it.
