Author Biography

I grew up in Beverly Hills, CA. Although much of my writing involves Hollywood locales and characters, I had other interests growing up and attended law school. As a result, some of that legal knowledge is added into my writing whenever possible. I am the author of The Greatest Stories Never Sold, a memoir, and Welcome to Hollyweird, a collection of humorous, supernatural, and horror short stories in the Twilight Zone vein. The reason I wrote The Cupid Chronicles is because i love humor and wanted to interlace it with romance and contemporary fantasy.

The Cupid Chronicles by Dennis Copelan is a paranormal comedy-drama novel set in the fictional Paradise City in Heaven in 2063. Pixel Millet, a social worker in the Paradise City Department of Discipline, finds himself unwittingly assigned to advocate on behalf of Cupid-1637, who has been charged with the violation of Cupid's Oath. Cupid-1637 now risks being flushed to the lower regions as punishment. To identify his infractions, Pixel and Cupid-1637 go over the cases he had handled over the decades. In one instance, he costs millions of dollars in losses to a magical lamp company. In another, he oversaw a love potion being implemented in all the wrong ways. He may also have contributed to the death of an elderly man who wished to reunite with his dead wife. Can Pixel save him from being flushed?

The Cupid Chronicles is an amalgamation of interconnected stories that are bound to make you laugh, break your heart, and entertain you all the way through. Author Dennis Copelan's tales function as satire and romantic-comedy in equal measure. With quirky characters in ever-ridiculous situations, you're bound to have a good time. I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry and banter shared between Pixel and Dean. The narrative flows past at a steady pace like a gentle breeze. Although I loved every single one of Cupid-1637's adventures, "Love Potion Number Nein", "Froggyland", and "The Dating Bureau" were my personal favorites amongst the bunch. Overall, The Cupid Chronicles is filled with wit, charm, heart, and humor. If you're a fan of well-written satire, I highly recommend it.

The Cupid Chronicles is a work of fiction in the comedy, fantasy, and interpersonal drama subgenres. It is intended for the adult reading audience and was penned by author Dennis Copelan. As the title suggests, the plot revolves around the workings of Cupid and many assistants who are given a Cupid number and a bunch of romances to manage. When angel-in-training Pixel Millet is given the casebook of Cupid-1637, he realizes it’s not going to be easy to support this particular client and keep him from being relegated. But as Pixel begins to examine each of Cupid-1637’s misdemeanors, he discovers there may be a conspiracy at play that could shake Heaven itself.

Author Dennis Copelan has crafted an excellent fantasy tale with plenty of laughs and relatable moments despite its unique and often bizarre settings. I really enjoyed Pixel as a central figure, dipping in and out of the different romances that he has to examine and defend, and serving as our guide to Heaven and its many complications. I thought the execution of the concept worked well with the episodic nature of the plot, and overall this drove the story forward in a highly readable, page-turning fashion with a great pace. Another feature I especially enjoyed was the dialogue, both in the relationships themselves and in Pixel’s commentary on the situation as it gets more and more out of hand. Overall, if you’re looking for something fresh, fun, and original to read in the fantasy subgenre, give The Cupid Chronicles a go.

The Cupid Chronicles by Dennis Copelan is a comedy story set in heaven. Pixel Millet is a social worker training to be an angel, working in the Paradise City Department of Discipline. He is tasked with defending Cupid-1637, Cupid’s assistant, to stop him from being sent below. He has just 24 hours to interview Cupid-1637 and look at the evidence – eight romances he mismanaged – and come up with an appropriate defense. Things are never quite that simple though, and Pixel has his suspicions that this is all just a ruse, that someone higher up is playing with things to ensure Cupid-1637 goes down. And once he works out who, the truth has the potential to turn heaven upside down.

The Cupid Chronicles by Dennis Copelan is a humorous part fantasy part sci-fi tale with an original plot. As well as the main storyline, there are no less than eight mini-stories, funny, heart-wrenching at times, but all part of the main plot. The descriptive nature of this book places you right in the story with the characters, all of whom are original and well-developed to the extent that you really get to know them. The mini-stories transport you to different times and places and offer a great insight into the main characters, fleshing out their background stories and lending depth to the plot. There is plenty of action, lots of thrills, and suspense as Pixel closes in on the truth and tries to save heaven and Cupid-1637. An excellent story, great for those who want a little time away from the realities of life.

Are you itching for something really different to read? Has Covid got you wishing you were anywhere else but here on planet earth? Well why not let Dennis Copelan whisk you off to heaven in The Cupid Chronicles where famous, but now deceased beauty queens are still as stunning as when they were alive; where angels are busily flitting about earning their full-grown wings working in various necessary capacities; and where love continues to make the world go round in both heaven and on earth? Not that being a love angel-in-training is going well for Cupid-1637. Seems his arrows aren’t quite hitting the targets in the way heaven desires. Now he’s facing a hearing, and if his social worker Pixel Millet isn’t able to defend his weak performance, Cupid-1637 will be “flushed” from heaven to who knows where!

Now not all Cupid-1637’s efforts are a total failure. In Froggyland, he manages to show Larry that Amber isn’t the right girl for him and in The Dating Bureau Gilby realizes that arranged marriages don’t compare to finding a partner the usual way. But the most memorable love stories that Cupid-1637 has had a hand in--Moonlight Serenade, The Theater and Five-Cent Romance--are the ones that are more touching than amusing and convince the hard-working Pixel that Cupid-1637 is worth saving. All he has to do now is to prove that to the miserable threesome with their own agendas who are presiding over the hearings. Who’d have thought heaven would still have such self-serving creatures in power? But after all, they were all once earthlings, right? And sometimes it takes more than a lifetime to change bad habits.

Together with Pixel, readers are invited to study the cases--in fact, a series of delightful short stories--to see if there’s any way to save Cupid-1637 from being flushed. Remember Aladdin’s lamp? Penny, who’s wishing for a better life rubs a lamp, brings forth a genie of sorts and wishes she hadn’t. Kirby Briggs, hopelessly attracted to Maxine, tries a love potion with some dramatic results. Most folks know how business issues can tear good friends apart, so poor Cupid-1637 has his hands full trying to keep their respective children in love with each other when their parents are fighting. In The Cupid Chronicles, Copelan explores humanity’s needs, desires, fumbles, and foibles through a most entertaining, often hilariously amusing collection of short stories nurtured in the bosom of one larger story. Copelan’s style is excellent and his story-telling skills inspiring. In the end, The Cupid Chronicles is one big fairy tale with a moral to share and it’s all very delightful. So, indulge yourself: escape planet earth today and enjoy some heavenly reading.

What do you do when Cupid's assistant botches his assignments? The Cupid Chronicles by Dennis Copelan takes you through the case files of Dean Webster, Cupid's assistant, as Pixel Millet prepares to represent him. In heaven, everyone has a job. Pixel's job consists of him being a psychologist, lawyer, and social worker. Dean is his hardest case ever, and he feels someone is targeting him with unusually detailed infractions. Pixel is determined to salvage Dean and make heaven a better place. As Dean's love stories unfold, it becomes obvious that he has issues from his past that continue to reflect his views on love and marriage. Lack of training is one explanation, but can Pixel find the clue that ties all these problems together?

The Cupid Chronicles is a superbly written novel that leaves you astonished by the twists in finding love and the multiple turns in the plot. Dennis Copelan takes you outside every thought you had about the responsibilities Cupids would perform. Each attempt Dean makes in love matches comes from his heart, and the stories escalate in their textured characters and humorous resolutions. The heavenly scene runs similar to earth, except angels and angels-in-training can be flushed or removed. The story unfolds in a dramatic way which makes the reader satisfied with the outcome and feel fulfilled that heaven has made the right decision. This romantic fantasy kept me glued to the pages as the characters took command of unfortunate love problems and ruled their situation.
