Author and Buddhist Philosopher KhunShweThike reincarnation in a different manner than one I’m familiar with. He suggests past lives have no effect on our current life. The author expounds on how the reincarnation process works. He also compares the philosophies of different religions on the topic. KhunShweThike stresses that humans are not reincarnated as animals but as humans.
KhunShweThike feels his explanation should relieve fear of death. He also believes there is nowhere else for man’s “soul” to go after death (no heaven.) He also does not believe man evolved from a lower animal.
There is much wisdom in this book. The author and I do not agree in certain areas such as reincarnation. However, most of his basic beliefs are common sense and I agree with him on those concepts. He stresses compassion and empathy, tolerance of the beliefs of others, the difference between needs and wants and the trap of materialism, and the lack of benefit in punishment.
Many will consider this book New Age while in fact the beliefs expressed are anything but New Age. This book is well written, easy to understand and written in an intelligent manner.
