The British FrontLine by Thomas J Eyre is a thriller, a crime novel that should sit on the shelves together with Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels and David Baldacci’s The Simple Truth, an electrifying romp that is action packed, dark, and characterized by its strong plot lines and the ingeniously designed conflict. Meet Patrick Regan, a well trained and most feared sniper of the Royal Marines with a track record for hunting down the most despicable thugs abroad. While he fights the scum abroad, Britain receives a horrible attack. With his parents dead and his sister missing, Regan finds the kind of motivation that aligns with his skills. But this fight is nothing like any he has fought before. With corruption eating into his kind and the Russian mafia determined to invade Britain, Regan must up his game. You will be surprised how!
I am a fan of Thomas J Eyre. I just became a fan after reading this novel and now I want more. The writing and the storytelling craft won me over utterly, and it took just a few minutes into the narrative. It is crisp and confident, and the dialogues are masterful, exciting and absorbing. The author creates a complex character in Patrick Regan — you’ll love his way of thinking as much as his actions. The narrative features a strong conflict, augmented with some strong elements of political thrillers, a cunning plot, and surprises that hit you squarely in the face at unexpected turns. The unpredictability of the plot and the fast pacing make this novel one that should be among the bestsellers. The British FrontLine is guaranteed to have your attention from the very first page as the protagonist with his peers are poised, like hunters, behind the sniper, waiting to take down a gang of Taliban fighters. This one was pure entertainment for me.
