The Bridge Key by Catherine Green is an adventure fantasy picture book that follows the story of two young sisters, Claire and Anne. Spring is here, and Claire cannot wait to go and play outside with her sister, Anne. Being older, Anne usually prefers spending time inside, but today, she agrees to venture outdoors with her chatty little sister. While enjoying the bloom of spring on the lush fields and woods, Claire and Anne arrive in front of an old arched bridge. Claire tells Anne she must find the key in her heart and believe in herself to pass through the doorway. As the sisters make their way through, they find themselves in a majestic garden, where they meet some of their oldest friends and, eventually, their family.
A wholesome children's tale full of adventure and wonder, The Bridge Key is bound to be a hit amongst kids. Catherine Green spins a captivating yarn that pulls at your heartstrings and leaves you with a smile. Complemented by vibrant drawings by Leigh Vashey, Green tells the story of two sisters who find themselves on a whimsical adventure that you will enjoy. Claire and Anne are two adorable sisters to whom children their age will relate. I especially liked that both of them have contrasting personalities, making their dynamic even more compelling. There are also underlying themes of hope and faith embedded seamlessly into the narrative. All in all, a delightful picture book for children.
