The Boy Who Burped by Beth Lewis is a fun way to encourage better food choices. Brother can't stop burping! And he isn't the only one with odd problems. The whole family seems to be acting strangely. Only Peppy, the family's dog, seems to have any energy lately. Their troubles continue until one day Brother makes a discovery. Can Brother find a way to fix their problems? Will he be able to help his family along the way? Daniel Włodarski illustrates this fun mystery as Brother seeks to resolve his family's bizarre issues.

Engaging illustrations and an important message make The Boy Who Burped by Beth Lewis a wonderful way to remember to make healthy choices. Beth offers a creative way to encourage healthy living and highlights the importance of family time in this story. The Everyday family is much like many families today and is easily relatable for children. Filled with colorful illustrations by the talented Daniel Włodarski, this is a quick read and a positive reminder to include variety in our diets and to take time to go outdoors. Lewis delivers an entertaining story and a gentle push to encourage healthy habits, including spending quality time with loved ones. It is a tale that young boys will love but can easily be enjoyed by girls.

My 5 year old son and I love this book! It has the wonderful "moral" to the story that so many children's books are missing anymore...so it makes me feel like I am not killing my parent-brain with a mind numbing, time waster. But on the flip side, my son gets a kick out of the normally taboo belches and other bodily functions the family suffers from because of bad habits. I also love the descriptive words that are atypical of so many other childrens books today. I honestly can't say enough good things about this book and I look forward to more from the author!

My daughters and I enjoyed this story about the Everyday family. In a simple but effective way the story tells us the importance of nutritious food and encourages us to be active. It is funny too. Now every time we burp, we probably will think about this book.

It's always a struggle to eat healthy, and this story shows us it's something we can all overcome! I loved how Beth put each family member in their own little worlds, and then brought them all together. I also loved how she named them generic ids (Momma, Daddy, Brother, Sister). This would seem to me to be relatable to young kids and make them see how the family dynamics work. Lastly, the idea of showing how the bad food affects the family members and then how it can positively impact them to eat well, but not give up their bad food completely - is something we can ALL relate to! Well done!

It was the title that grabbed me right away; one I thought would appeal to younger kids. I expected a silly book about burping, but I was pleasantly surprised to find an entertaining story with a great message, without preaching. I especially liked that it was Brother that did the problem solving, not the adults. He figured out on his own that his eating habits weren't healthy, and passed along that information to the rest of the family. The illustrations are lovely, with lots of bright colors and details. This will be a book that kids will ask to be read over and over again.

Fun story about a family who alters their unhealthy eating and drinking habits thanks to Brother. He's feeling isolated, as everyone is preoccupied with their own sedentary activities, something very relevant today! He engages his dog for some outdoor fun and discovers that moving his body feels good. He prepares a healthy breakfast for the family and they get on board too. Great message about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. My 7 year old loved how the dad was tooting all the time!

The Everyday family is like most of us - they like to indulge in habits that can be bad for them. But together the whole family learns that eating a variety of foods and getting exercise makes them feel better.

The Boy Who Burped is highly relatable. Many who read this book will see themselves reflected in its pages. This is a great conversation-starter about nutrition, exercise and obsessively indulging in any one thing, no matter what.

Be advised that the word count may be a little long for children under the Kindergarten level. Also, I personally didn't love that the dog had a name but the human characters didn't, but that's just me. Read it for yourself and make your own judgements.

The Boy Who Burped would be a great addition to lower elementary health units to spur discussion on nutrition, exercise and mindfulness.

All in all, this book would be a great addition to your home or classroom library. You should get a copy today!

My class loved this book. The students were able to relate to the family in this book. It teaches a great lesson to kids to make better or more mindful choices when they eat. My students found the book quite funny too. This book is a great way to start the discussion of better choices and healthy eating.

This is a great book that the whole family enjoyed. Good balance of humor and a message. Would definitely recommend.

I really liked this book! As a mom who is trying to eat intuitively with her family, I really enjoyed the positive messages about fueling your body with nutritious food while not completely writing off high desire foods / play foods! Would recommend!

This is a great little book with an important message. Kids don't like to do things unless they know WHY. In this case, it is not some grown up telling them how to eat right, and giving endless lists of do's and don'ts. They will see that their own body will give them feedback on the junk food they eat, and how much better they will feel by choosing healthier foods and activities for themselves. It also empowers them to set an example for the rest of their family. It has adorable illustrations and is instructive without being preachy. This should be in every classroom!

This lovable picture book hooked me with a compelling art style and kept me with a well-written, timely message about the benefits of balanced eating and activity. I loved that it focused on the whole family vs. just the kids, and that the kid protagonist led the way to positive lifestyle changes in the family.

The nutritional message of this book for this young age group is so important and not readily available in a picture book format. This is a delightful way to learn lessons essential to stay healthy all your life. Loved the playful illustrations. Good size for kids hands.
