The Blue Prussian is a sleuth mystery thriller by Eve Penrose. Blake O'Brien is a highly successful executive working for a green energy company. Recently divorced from her toxic ex-husband, Milton Oxley, Blake's life turns upside down when she discovers that she has been slowly poisoned with thallium, whose only antidote happens to be Prussian blue, a synthetic pigment used in paintings. Blake immediately suspects Milt, and with the help of her friends Jude and Bex, an MI5 agent, she begins to investigate Milt's past and his obsession with the Victorian era. Soon, the FBI gets involved, and together, they uncover cases of more victims that point toward Milt being a serial killer. Now, Blake and her friends must gather the evidence to put The Blue Prussian behind bars, once and for all.
The Blue Prussian is a gripping sleuth mystery with psychological thriller overtones. This is not a whodunnit story but more of a how and 'whydunnit' tale. Eve Penrose spins an enchanting web of a plot featuring twists and turns galore, complemented by some compelling character work and a riveting narrative that never lets you take your eyes off the pages. The author keeps moving the plot along smoothly, and as a reader, you find yourself flying through the pages, eager to know what will happen next. Blake, as a protagonist, is easy to root for. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Blake and her friends as they worked toward bringing The Blue Prussian down. Thriller fans will find plenty to love about The Blue Prussian.
