Following the complaints of a cantankerous old woman insisting she is being poisoned causes an unexpected ripple effect in the fascinating sleuth mystery, The Blue Moon Caper (A Damien Dickens Mystery) by Phyllis Entis. The lives of Millie and Damien are upset, consequential to the malevolent actions of Derek Turpin. Due to Turpin's machinations, Damien's New Jersey Investigator's license is revoked and Millie is recuperating from near-fatal injuries. Moving from New Jersey to Carmel-by-the-Sea to recover from the final encounter with Turpin, Damien is attempting to acquire his California Investigator's license. However, the fact he shot and killed Turpin is clouding the issue. To reclaim his livelihood, Damien and Millie take the unwanted case of a local ill-tempered senior citizen, who claims to be poisoned by her family. However, fate steps in and Damien and Millie's circumstances escalate when, on two different coasts, a family member goes missing, their dog is poisoned, and a close friend confesses to murder. Could the cases be connected? Can Damien and Millie solve each case in time or will they lose one or all of those they care for?
The combination of murder and drug-trafficking is the center of the intriguing P.I. novel, The Blue Moon Caper (A Damien Dickens Mystery) by Phyllis Entis. This fifth book in a riveting series is another splendid 'whodunit' with a fascinating storyline and engaging characters. Like the incomparable Nick and Nora Charles from the 1930s Thin Man Series, Damien and Millie Dickens are a dynamic couple whose shrewdness and sheer guts solve their cases. The captivating plot, in which the story unfolds in a serpentine fashion, transports you between two states and two cases, culminating in an astounding and heart-rending conclusion. If sleuth mysteries tickle your fancy, then you will not want to miss this one!
