Stella is covering a story live at a home, where a mother of three is accused of killing her ex-husband on her front steps. The eyewitness is willing to give an exclusive interview to Stella, which is an added bonus for her station. However, when the prime suspect's brother is shot down in the same place the following night, Stella begins to question her eyewitness's account. Stella begins to delve into the accused mother's background and that of her estranged husband and her neighborhood. When another body is discovered, Stella is now convinced that a murderer is at large and the woman being held in jail is innocent. Can Stella find the real culprit before an innocent woman is put away permanently for a murder she didn't commit?
The Big Weekend (A Stella Reynolds Mystery) by Libby Kirsch is a dazzling sleuth mystery that keeps the reader guessing until its exciting denouement. This tale has a captivating storyline that twists and turns through the stimulating plot, holding the reader's interest. All of the characters are engaging and relatable. There is the makeup artist's character, who is exceptionally enjoyable and makes for great comic relief, while Stella's character admirably struggles to make a difference in her career. These elements are all the perfect combination for a superb cozy mystery. This novel is one in a series of Stella Reynolds mysteries, but it makes a fantastic standalone. It is a satisfying read for those who love an excellent cozy murder mystery.
