The Baby Sea Turtle is a children's book written by S.A. Mahan and illustrated by Deborah Mahan. A mother turtle leaves the sea one night to lay her eggs, which she covers with sand to keep them safe. One day, the baby turtles hatch and they make their way to the sea. One baby was slow to hatch, and when he does, he's all alone. He's excited by the wonders of the world he's found himself in, but he ends up walking away from the sea instead of towards it. He gets scared when he reaches a busy road. Then a boy finds the terrified baby turtle and brings him back to the sea.

I've read S.A. Mahan's children's book, The Baby Sea Turtle, three times already and I'll probably read it a few times more. It's that good. S.A. Mahan's story is inspired and Deborah Mahan's illustrations are marvelous. There are pictures of the mother turtle leaving the ocean and her lumbering up the shore to bury her eggs, and pictures of the baby turtles as they hatch and head for the sea. Each picture is distinct and original, and the colors are bright or muted depending on the theme for that page. S.A. Mahan's verse is a blend of rhyme and free verse that is never sing-song or stilted, and there's an audio version of The Baby Sea Turtle included with the book. This is a wonderful first reader for a child or a highly enjoyable book for an adult to share at bedtime. The Baby Sea Turtle is most highly recommended.

The Baby Sea Turtle by S.A. Mahan is an adorable yet educational book that young children will devour and enjoy. It is both aesthetically pleasing to the eyes as well as to the ears, with colourful illustrations and flowing words and phrases. The author successfully portrays the hardships of a baby sea turtle in a more realistic way, but at the same time it is suitable for a young child's innocent mind. The style and voice in the story highlight the feelings and the plot excellently. It is easier to understand yet emotions are still sprawled across the page. You can feel the baby turtle's struggle while he tries to survive in the urban environment, the joy that it feels when it is reunited with its mother. The author has a brilliant grasp of words in this sense.

While the illustrations are amazing in detail, there are some small things on the page that didn't go well. For example, the text stands out too much from the background, making the page as a whole look awkward. Equal emphasis should be put on both the illustration as well as the text, because we want children to appreciate art and learn how to read at the same time. However, this is a very small detail and it is up to the author and the illustrator to decide if they want to change things around or not.

This small picture book also teaches children a lesson, that they should be kind and help others when in trouble. Kindness is not limited to friends in the classroom, but towards other individuals such as adults, small animals, and those in need. It builds a healthy relationship between the child and others: respect, kindness, and helpfulness - three virtues that every child should know and learn.

The Baby Sea Turtle by S.A. Mahan is a children's story about the life of a baby turtle that gets separated from his brothers and sisters at the time of hatching, his struggle to find his way home, and the challenges he meets along the way. After being left behind by his brothers and sisters, the baby turtle tries to find his way to the sea but he ends up going in the wrong direction, taking him even further away from home and from his family. Scared and alone, the baby turtle keeps moving, hoping that he will finally make it home, or at least find someone to help. Will he find his way home, or will he forever be separated from his family?

The Baby Sea Turtle by S.A. Mahan is a very exciting children's storybook with fun illustrations and good lessons for kids. It is an easy and entertaining way for kids to learn about the life of sea turtles with other important life lessons. The story teaches the importance of family, looking out for each other, being brave, being kind to strangers and offering help to those who need it. The book has colorful and expressive illustrations, which are both very vivid and fun to look at, helping bring this amazing story of the sea turtles to life. The language and tone in The Baby Sea Turtle by S.A. Mahan would be very appealing to children. It would be a worthy addition to a kids' library and can be read as a bedtime story or indeed at any time of the day.

This book is a fabulous books. My grandchildren loved it. I will have to read it again and again.
The story is well written. Kids may become afraid for the poor turtle lost in the city, but they will be happy with the great ending.
This book gives parents and teachers some great educational opportunities to discuss about turtles lives, how to safe them or any other lost animals as well as family values.
This book deserves much more than 5 stars. It may become a classic in his category.
