The Anmorian Legends: Legacy of the Sentinels is D.N. Pillay’s second book in The Anmorian Legends series. After making poor choices with disastrous consequences, Rezaaran Valhara, a War Mage, is determined to redeem himself. He is charged with a mission to reunite a team of warriors to defeat the enemy Rezaaran lost to once before. Together, these five heroes may be Anmor’s only hope to defeat the Obsidian Dominion.
As I have been reading The Anmorian Legends by D.N. Pillay, it has brought to me a touch of the thrill I experienced when reading books like The Elfstones of Shannara or The Eye of the World. This book is filled with detailed world building that gives a firm foundation for the story to develop on. Aside from lacking a little of the visual aspect of the characters (a personal preference), The Anmorian Legends is rich in description and imagination. To me, this book takes the usual epic fantasy tale and combines it with a futuristic, science fiction flair that I haven’t found since reading the Dragonrider series by Anne McCaffrey. These elements, coupled with intriguing characters and well-crafted action scenes, create a story I have enjoyed devouring.
Though this is the second book in a series, Pillay does cover certain details from the first book in the beginning chapters. This does make for a bit of a slow start as it is heavy in exposition, but once I got past this, the story kicked into high gear and kept me reading until the end. A great read for paranormal and fantasy fans.
