The Amber Bones is from Thorn the Bounty Hunter Mystery Series by Brom Kearne. Thorn, a bounty hunter, returns to Bradenfield badly injured and covered in bruises after capturing violent outlaw Arnold Keech. A friend requests his help in locating Sandy, his missing son, and Thorn accepts the job. He enlists Marshall Walcott’s help and learns that other children are missing. They have joined a gang led by a legendary ghost, Court Raleigh, who vandalizes farming communities. The L&D Shipping Company has also experienced several robberies in Webster Grove. Thorn travels to the town and observes how intimidating the local police are towards the residents. He agrees to go undercover to help the L&D Company dismantle the gang, but begins to wonder whom he can actually trust when he is captured.

The Amber Bones is a fascinating, fast-paced action story about greed, power, and revenge. The first chapter was attention grabbing so I wanted to continue reading. It is a very interesting story with an unusual western-like setting and colourful characters to match. I thought the drama that included outlaw Arnold Keech was entertaining, but the rest of the story was as well. Thorn loves a good fight, even if he has to start it. Brom Kearne is an imaginative storyteller with a sense of humour. The Amber Bones: Thorn the Bounty Hunter Series comes recommended with its appropriate cover illustration. The other titles in the series seem just as interesting as well.
