The Adventures of Granola Squatch and the Mysterious Egg by Landa Penisten is a fun twist on Easter. One morning, Granola Squatch wakes up to discover a "dazzling, magical, groovy, mysterious egg" outside his cave. He has no idea who would have left him such an awesome gift, so he decides to ask his neighbors, the woodland creatures. As he visits each friend, they have also received an egg, but no one knows who might have left them. They follow the clues to see if they can discover who the mysterious gift giver might be. Will Granola Squatch and his friends find out who left the eggs?
The Adventures of Granola Squatch and the Mysterious Egg is the first in a series of holiday books starring the peace-loving, groovy Granola Squatch. Landa Penisten has crafted an amusing adventure just right for preschoolers. They will love repeating the phrase "dazzling, magical, groovy, mysterious egg" every time a new one shows up. The illustrations by Thomas Penisten are delightful. Granola Squatch looks so groovy with his tie-dyed headband and fringed vest. The eggs are indeed magical as each one of them shimmers. Kids will get a kick out of knowing who the mysterious egg giver is before the characters in the story. Granola Squatch and each of his distinctive woodland friends will bring smiles to many faces. The Adventures of Granola Squatch and the Mysterious Egg is a holiday story that can be enjoyed year round. I'm looking forward to the continuing adventures of Granola Squatch
