The Adventures of David And Donald: The Fractured Flower Pot by Matthew Moyer is a children’s educational book about the adventures that brothers David and Donald embark upon. On a particular visit to their grandparents' house, a little accident happens in the backyard. The boys find themselves in a bit of a pickle, not knowing how to approach the situation. How will they deal with the mishap? And will all be forgiven?
In The Fractured Flower Pot by Matthew Moyer, the illustrations by Katie Coolong were the first thing that attracted me to the book. They are colorful and creative. I noticed that the story has a slow start, which focuses on describing the characters and their interests, along with setting up the plot. Once the story gets started you see brothers David and Donald having an accident in their grandpa’s backyard and not knowing what to do. They each come up with ideas of how they can cover up the mess they have made, but each outcome they think of has a consequence.
The boys soon realize that lying isn’t the best option and remember something their teacher told them about telling the truth. Matthew Moyer has cleverly written the steps to take when it comes to taking responsibility for your actions. This book is very useful and will surely benefit children. If your child is in a similar situation, hand them this book and let them follow in the footsteps of David and Donald.
