Join in The Adventures of Cedric the Bear by Lucia Wilson. Cedric is a unique bear with a beautiful and colorful woven coat made by a creative lady named Katie. There is never a dull day in Cedric’s life. There are three parts to his story, starting in the V.A. Museum where Cedric gets bear-napped. In part two Cedric meets Button Bear who is trapped in a dark basement. Will Cedric and his friends from the London Zoo rescue him and help him find his home? In part three, Cedric is off to Paris to visit his friend Velours who he finds out is now disabled. She is going to run in Le Grand Dash, the big race of the Pet Paralympics, and is a favorite to win.
Lucia Wilson has written a fantastic action adventure for children and parents to enjoy and explore in The Adventures of Cedric the Bear. The black and white illustrations by Anne Bowes pair well with the story and are very nostalgic. There is just enough action so that it does not overwhelm a child but will excite their imagination. There are themes of compassion, love, and bravery. In part one Cedric shows compassion to Troy the teenage security guard who took him. In part two Cedric shows bravery while rescuing Button Bear. In part three Cedric shows love by helping his friend Velours and the Paralympics pets. I would recommend fans of Paddington Bear and children who enjoy action and adventure stories read this book.
