The 48 Laws of Happiness by Dr. Rob Carpenter is an incredibly well-written and informative self-help book designed to help you unlock the secrets to happiness. In this book, Dr. Rob Carpenter aims to teach you to be happier in every area of your life. The book is divided into seven parts which are: mastering happiness in your mind, emotions, relationships, career, body, circumstances, and the universe. Combining world-class research and practical advice, Dr. Rob outlines the steps we can take to become happier, as well as describing several common traps that we may fall into and how to avoid them. By including an inspirational story in each chapter, readers can learn from other people's journeys to find happiness.
Happiness means the state of liking yourself and being content with who you are and what you have. The 48 Laws of Happiness could not have given a more accurate definition of happiness. I love how Dr. Rob Carpenter identifies several different problem areas that many people struggle with and reminds us to reflect on them, giving us several ways to approach the problem. Dr. Rob also did an excellent job of developing his arguments and describing each main point so that anyone can easily understand. My favorite chapter has to be chapter 19, in which Dr. Rob discusses how happy people should not victimize themselves in relationships. While reading this chapter, I realized how often I had unconsciously committed this unhealthy behavior and how much I needed to stop. All in all, I found the advice Dr. Rob Carpenter had to offer was insightful and greatly valuable.
