In her uplifting book Thank You For The Ice Cream, Mari Benning shares accounts of her life in a bid to inform, enlighten and inspire. The work begins by examining the impact of envy which robs us of our vision, happiness, and success. The book reminds us of being aware of the great things in life and the importance of having an attitude of gratitude. In later chapters, the author delves into other thought-provoking topics including remedies to bitterness, anger, and lack of contentment. On bitterness, the discussion evaluates how trying to keep up with other people’s paces blinds us from enjoying our successes. Appreciating one’s uniqueness, loving people and appreciating our journey are other dominant topics that feature in the book.
Having had to battle mental illness, bitterness, and rejection in her life, Mari Benning uses her book, Thank You For The Ice Cream, as a learning platform for others who have gone through similar circumstances. The work maintains a conversational tone and, matched with the author’s candidness, it explores many important topics in an engaging way. The book features a variety of the author’s experiences spanning from her childhood to her later roles as a mother, wife, and employee in various capacities. These experiences offer different lessons concerning distinct aspects of life. The messages in the work are based on biblical verses and accounts that further explain the subjects in the book. Thank You For The Ice Cream is an encouraging non-fiction book that helps in taking a closer look at life while assessing the factors that influence the decisions we make along the way.
