Thandi’s Love: Final Edition by Angel Strong is a love story set in the deep South of Newport, South Carolina, and spanning the mid-1800s. It is a time when masters controlled their slaves. Tom Lexington is the plantation owner, but also childhood playmates with Thandi and her brother, Isaac, until they are sent to his aunt’s plantation. Years pass, and Tom is forced to marry Anna in order to keep his family’s plantation away from her father, Daniel. Time has passed and Aunt Lacy sends Tom help to bring in the cotton harvest. This help includes his old friends, Thandi and Isaac.
The trio quickly renews their friendship, and much against Anna’s wishes because they are black and slaves. Tom sees that Thandi and Isaac are given beautiful guest rooms and allowed the freedom of the plantation. It quickly becomes more than friendship when Thandi and Tom fall deeply in love. Anna and her father are furious at this and do all they can to end the romance and make life miserable for Tom. Enter Victor, who comes to keep an eye on the situation and he too quickly falls for the beautiful Thandi.
I really found Thandi’s Love to be a treasure. There are secrets and heartbreak over the years, but there is also much love, friendship and good times. It got my attention from the first paragraph and never left me disappointed. Thandi’s Love is a warm and loving story that is a must-read. It is impossible not to feel all of the joy and pain of Thandi, Tom and Victor. I strongly urge you to read this book. It will make you smile, it will make you cry, but, importantly, it will keep you entertained.
