What if the original sin had never been committed? What would the world have looked like today? Terra’s Fall by Amanda D’Errico explores this concept. Terra Zaragoza has had her fair share of disappointments, the worst of which was growing up with an alcoholic mother. The ever-present shame and embarrassment at school functions, the let-downs, and the frustration are all contributing factors to the deep resentment Terra feels today. Then there’s the promotion she never got. That might have been her fault, but still. To top it all off, the Fibromyalgia is a permanent pain in the butt. Terra is desperate for a miracle. When Harlan, the physical therapist obsessed with getting Terra’s body into top condition, introduces her to Elysia, Terra is speechless. An alternate universe where the Forbidden Fruit was never eaten? It sounds…perfect. But does this make Harlan an extraterrestrial being? Scary. However, Terra’s not in the least prepared for the events that are about to take place. But who knows? Elysia might hold the key to the miracle she so desperately needs.
Terra’s Fall was drop-dead funny, but also incredibly sad. Alcoholism affects not only the abuser but their loved ones as well, as was the case with Terra and her mother. Fortunately, Terra chose not to go down the same path and instead developed an inner strength and resolve, and that is what drew me to her; there's so much one can learn from Terra’s character. The humorous tone was entertaining. The author had me in stitches with the dialogue and characters. Terra’s best friend was also a favorite; she was so concerned for Terra’s wellbeing, not to mention sympathetic. The storyline was thought-provoking and I admire the originality and creativity behind it; Elysia was beautiful. Amanda D’Errico is a wonderful storyteller and I look forward to reading more of her works. Terra’s Fall is about forgiveness and redemption, which readers will find inspiring and fulfilling. I recommend it to fans of sci-fi, fantasy and Christian fiction.
