Birds of a feather… or perhaps cougars of a feather come together in Terms of Temptation, a continuation of the lives of the Cantrell family by Lorrie Farrelly. Kinley Cantrell has a heart for taking on wild animals which are injured or sick, but she also has a quick and fiery temper when it comes to people who abuse any animals. It was the sight of her giving an old drunk a strong going over concerning the condition of his malnourished horse that first caught Deputy Game Warden Bram Killoran’s attention. Though they frustrate the living hell out of each other, the two end up going in search of a cougar alleged to be killing Old Man Hackett’s sheep. The adventure brings a whole new set of annoyances to the two as they realize that there is a burning passion between them. Bram can hardly keep his hands off of her while he fights back the idea that he is good enough to marry her and settle down. As the two struggle within, there is plenty of intense action taking place on the outside as well.
Lorrie Farrelly has captured the struggles of love and romance in a fantastic way in Terms of Temptation. She has not only penetrated the hearts and emotions of the two lead characters, but she has done it in a setting and under circumstances that add to the romance. Horses, strong men, conflicts, and adventures, which were a daily part of western life at the turn of the century, have a visceral cloud around them that makes the reader long for that simpler time; a cloud which surrounds Lorrie’s novel. Passionate, emotional and adventurous, Terms of Temptation is an adventure in romance that will hold the reader spellbound, like the scream of a cougar in the night.
