They were bred and hybridized to enable them to survive in hostile environments and then transported to Teiresias Centaurus, for mining its vast mineral deposits. Other humans were kept at the intellectual level of old Earth's Middle Ages; they became craftsmen and farmers. The hybrid humanoids were re-arranged via ahsadigit nanobots. Humans and humanoids were able to co-exist, and any DNA testing which might have alerted the populace to the difference was strictly forbidden. Thayla Nymo and Ryan Terso lived different lives; their only common factor being that they had enhanced roles in the Ikhal government. Thayla's partner was a carpenter and Ryan's wife, a teacher. Both couldn't really understand the devastating dreams their companions suffered. When Thayla and Ryan met at a General Confederate Staff Meeting, the merest glance into each other's eyes woke an instant sense of kinship. Then they discovered their shared roles in those terrifying dreams.

Baibin Nighthawk and Dominick Fencer's science fiction novella, Teiresias Centaurus 3047: The Dhungwana Chronicles (2117-3451), Part 2, is an exciting, original and fast-paced space opera that follows the beleaguered human race as it's shuttled by its conquerors across galaxies. This is the second book in the authors' Dhungwana Chronicles, and while I was able to get on board with the story after the first chapter or so, I'd strongly recommend starting with the first book to more fully experience the impact of this imaginative speculative fiction series. Thayla and Ryan are well-developed characters; both are strong, capable and competent, and their strengths complement each other's nicely. The authors' combined writing style is smooth and dynamic, and their plot is thoughtful and provocative. Teiresias Centaurus 3047 is highly recommended for fans of hard science fiction as well as lovers of the space opera sub-genre.

Dominick Fencer and Baibin Nighthawk take us to the planet Teiresias Centaurus which is home to selected humans with their memories cleaned up and many of them turned into humanoids. Ruled by the Ikhals for the last 930 years, the humanoids are compatible with evolution and integration with the recombinant nanobots called absadigit. Thalya Nymo and Ryan Terso are officers of the elite KYO7990 Confederate Army, who meet when they are assigned to fight the Dhundra and colonise the planet Chamaeleon Ater. Their relatively privileged lives are disrupted by strange dreams that bind them together, which become progressively disturbing so that they seek out 135-year-old Hector Dago, the last of the human shamans, to find the truth. After this visit, their lives will never be the same again.

In part two of The Dhungwana Chronicles (2117-3451), the authors captivate readers with a beautifully detailed science fiction story that takes place hundreds of years after Dhungwana, the only remaining habitable land on Earth, is considered Omissus, meaning forgotten. The most compelling part of this novel is the seemingly unconscious struggle of its main protagonists to cling to the essence of being human. Human history, as we know it, has been completely erased and the majority of the inhabitants of Teiresias Centaurus have lost their freedom and independence. They are now scientifically altered so that they do not resort to rebellion and aggression, but fortunately some of them are not altered and placed under observation, as part of the experiment done by the ruling Ikhals. This story reveals the meaning of being human in the real sense of the word - to be able to love, hate, dream, make mistakes and determine our lives; losing all this is indeed a scary thought!
