Taya Bayliss - Tree Hugger (Taya Bayliss Mysteries Volume 5) by EJ Gore is the fifth in the series of the Taya Bayliss mysteries. Taya and her best friend Chris are helping Professor Monahan to save a beautiful stretch of land facing the river from greedy real estate developers. They realize there is something eerie about the place and the situation. They always feel someone is watching them or some movement inside the property when they go there. The dog Minette also joins them in their hunt for a document that will help them prevent the development in that area. Though Taya does not believe in ghosts, are there ghosts in that area?
Children will enjoy this mystery and the author manages to keep a good tempo as the story progresses. The main characters, Chris and Taya, are adorable and relatable and the rest of the characters are also memorable along with them. The author's writing style is descriptive, making the story very visual. There is fluidity in her writing which gives a good pace and movement to the story. It is definitely a story for all those children who love adventure and solving mysteries.
The quiz questions at the end of the book are helpful for readers to reflect upon the story and ponder on the scenes in the book. The story has many layers to it, which makes it even more captivating and entertaining. The story also helps readers form a deep understanding of the world around them.
