Tapestry by Ariana Overton is a unique mystery story that is very good. Katherine (Kat) is 48 years old and has just broken up with the only man she has ever truly loved. Steve was in love with Kat, but married and not willing to get a divorce. Chuck and Callie are Kat’s long time best friends. They know Steve is the wrong man for her, but have a friend, Dr. Martin, who would be just perfect. Dr. Martin is a scientist who is working on a way to time travel through biofeedback and drugs. Michael is Dr. Martin’s half brother, who has discovered an Egyptian scroll that has the secrets of how to cure types of illnesses, but he has been murdered and the scrolls are missing. Kat volunteers for the experiment and finds she can travel back to the past. Her aim is to find out what happened to Michael and the scrolls, but she also takes a side trip to change her path by meeting Steve before he gets married. Martin’s boss Nick and his assistant Mr. Scholtz, along with Mr. Analda, also play important roles. The end result proves to be both a failure and a success.
Tapestry is mostly a mystery with futuristic time travel playing an important part, as does romance. Ariana Overton has done a brilliant job of creating perfect characters and plot. It wasn’t until the last very surprising pages that we find out who the good guys are and who the bad guys are and you will never see it coming. Tapestry has it all and is a sure top seller. I really enjoyed Tapestry from the very first page to the unexpected conclusion. A great read.
