Author Biography

After twenty-one years as an active educator, I continued to pursue my love of writing, soon becoming co-editor of a popular Long Island web-zine. As I created and authored my column, Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives, I solidified my special niche of investigative journalism, and put those same talents to work while writing Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery. I secured a contract with a NY literary agent, who was sure this book would take off and fly. But to our utter disappointment, it was rejected, with the explanation, "She doesn't have enough of an author platform" (Honestly, I didn't even know the meaning of that term at the time.) But then I began to think, "There must be tons of talented writers out there who haven't been given a chance. Why don't I create an "Authors Helping Authors" project. So I initiated Tales2Inspire® in 2012, never dreaming it would grow in such strength and numbers as it has.
I work with a passion to deliver exactly what I envisioned, am thrilled to be able to help other talented writers build stronger author platforms, and continually strive to find new and innovative ways to strengthen their opportunities for discovery.
Tales2Inspire® has opened a whole new chapter in my life, and hopefully in the lives of many others.

The short story continues alive and well, and Tales 2 Inspire: The Diamond Collection is living proof. Editor and author Lois Stern - with Stan Cupery M.D. and Tom Eliopoulos - has compiled twenty-three award winning stories from previous collections, and has presented to readers a fascinating collection of wisdom in the form of real-life experiences. From tales about an abandoned infant to a lace tablecloth with a history, readers will journey to many lands and learn about how human nature faces and overcomes adversity and tragedy. Curious and courageous individuals research their histories and stumble upon life-changing moments of awareness. A dog braves death itself to reunite with his owner and an elephant leading a life of pain and sorrow befriends an orphan elephant in a manner which reminds the reader of the empathic connections of humans. Some readers learn how to start a journey equipped only with faith and a personal dream while others learn that in moments fraught with panic and doubt, they can rise to a position to reveal their own sense of excellence. There is also a moment of “Hubris” which will have you trying to stifle a belly laugh!

The overriding factor which struck me while reading Tales 2 Inspire: The Diamond Collection was that these writers were living, breathing people with relatively ordinary backgrounds. At the time of their experiences, they were everyday people struggling to understand their own circumstances. No one was paying them millions of dollars to act on the silver screen or to throw or catch a ball on a field of athletic play. Rather, these were ordinary people who faced challenges that came their way. What made them courageous and/or heroic was that they did not back away; they did not cower in the face of adversity. They accepted what was not asked for and they made their way through to moments of personal victory.
