Words are like a melody or a strike in the heart - it can cut or it can mend. In this beautiful marriage between poetry and street photography, authors Tanya Southey and Denise Smith have collaborated to create this beautiful work of art. In the book, StreetWise: 52 Words 52 Weeks, the reader will explore the connection between words and images which will excite their senses as they embark on a journey with the authors. Each week reflects on a different emotion or feeling, from rest and refuge to blessings that the reader can identify with while creating their own journey through the pages. This book is highly recommended and a must for any library or tabletop in your favorite room to be shared with others.
I appreciate and love how Tanya Southey and Denise Smith were able to develop and blend their individual talents to create a body of work that came together seamlessly. The reader will enjoy 52 levels of expressions, emotions, and life through the images and words from the authors. Each word and photograph appear to be carefully chosen to create an element of humanity and everyday life in order to connect with the reader. There is much to choose from in this body of work but Ghost on the Train (image), Whispering (poem), Internal (poem), Inhaling (image), Made for Love (image), Longing (poem), Getting There (image) and Trust (poem) speak to me due to the sensitivity of life, love, longing, and happiness displayed and as the images and poems play off each other. I really enjoyed this book.
