Sometimes It Rains (Recognizing and Honoring All My Feelings and Emotions) is a children’s picture book written by Eevi Jones with illustrations by Nina Khalova. The book explores the ups and downs of life and reassures children that everything will be okay. Sometimes we are happy, sometimes we get sad, sometimes we win, and other times we lose, but we must remember that we will be okay. You cannot always get what you want or control the weather or every situation. This can affect our emotions, but the author reminds the reader that a rainy, gloomy day can be bright with patience and a positive mind.
Reading Sometimes It Rains made me smile. Children are not old enough to understand why bad things happen, but adults can help them understand their feelings. Eevi Jones teaches children about patience, acceptance, and how to respond positively to situations. The author encourages children to remember that not everything will be as planned. This is a good lesson children can carry into adulthood. Life is not always perfect, but staying calm and optimistic is the key to happiness. My favorite part of this book was the beautiful illustrations of cute kids. Each child is unique and goes through different situations. Whether in a wheelchair, having trouble with schoolwork, or being lonely, they are all reminded that everything will be okay. I recommend parents read this book with their children and teach them to be optimistic.
