In Soft As Water by B. Robert Conklin, a tragic accident cost the lives of another man’s wife and child. Now, Will is trying his best to move forward with his new job as the curator of the Jamal Waxman Memorial Museum after abandoning his own family. In Utica, Abbey raises her little boy alone and pursues a search for the husband who left her. A widowed man with a grudge has ideas about revenge that Abby and her child know nothing about. A message answered about Will’s whereabouts, living under an alias, draws the attention of the wrong person. Can Will move forward and find peace in his new life? Will Abbey and her son give up the search for her absentee husband? Will the vengeful man find a way to make sure that none of them survive the tragedy that binds them?

Soft As Water pulled me in so quickly that I couldn’t stop reading it. I love the way Conklin gave a view of each person’s life, then interlaced them so effortlessly to the event that molded the characters together. The roller-coaster of emotions in this story made it easy to get caught up in the pain, remorse, love, revenge, and suspense, and it carried me through from beginning to end. I recommend Soft As Water by B. Robert Conklin to anyone who enjoys a story that has a little bit of everything. I look forward to reading more stories like this one from this talented author in the future. This is definitely one of the books that have made it onto the list of novels that I read over and over again.
