Snot Monster by Ian Billings is an entertaining and creepy storybook for children with lots of fun and adventure. There is a crisis going on in St Squirmings' Ghoul School. Mr Poke, the school inspector, comes for school inspection. He peers into every single room of the school. The Gruesome report is bad as they have been let down by four pupils. Their thoughtfulness and kindness have brought down the reputation of the school. They have been given five days to improve things. Will they be able to do it? Will Benedict, Franny, Wilf, and Gordon be able to be as gross as the rest of the kids?
The book is funny, gross, adventurous and different from the usual creepy stories one reads. It's a fun read and can be used as a bedtime storybook for kids and grandkids by parents and grandparents. It's a good book for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school rooms. The terrible Snot Monster will bring out a lot of laughs and giggles from readers with its gross acts. I found the story original and the school, though ghoulish, still runs like any other normal school. The narration is detailed and descriptive, making the characters and the gruesome scenes come alive. Ian Billings writes a story filled with some gross characters, fun filled and ghoulish adventures, and some horrid happenings that will keep children glued to the story till the very end.
