Sky Walkers by D. Owen Powell. Frank and Joe Hunter are twins, they are pretty similar to each other but there are things that set the twins apart. While Frank is a detective, Joe is a paraplegic who is trying to put the pieces of his life back together. But when they are approached by the government to take up a task that changes their lives, these brothers don’t hesitate to grab it. With the promise of getting the opportunity to walk again and powers unlike any they could have hoped for, the brothers try to complete the mission to the best of their abilities. But what started as a simple mission turns into something bigger than they anticipated and now the future of humankind is hanging by a thread. Joe and Frank have to do whatever it takes to save the world.
Science fiction at its best D. Owen Powell has continued the story that started with Jon Hunter and now his sons are continuing his legacy and taking it forward. Captain Jon Hunter is a legend and his sons couldn’t be more proud of their father. I loved the first novel in the series and I love this one even more. Joe and Frank are the perfect protagonists and they are a great team. They work together perfectly; they pay attention to and respect each other. They had some big shoes to fill and they did a pretty good job of it. They have their own characteristics and their own identities that the author made sure to focus on and highlight. I enjoyed Joe’s reactions and Frank’s intelligence. They complemented each other and their friendly banter made the story even more enjoyable. The story itself is very well-paced, incredibly intricate and allows the reader to get invested in the plot. I enjoyed Sky Walkers a lot more than I anticipated and I hope to read more by Mr. Powell.
