Another poem, “Dirt,” celebrates an exhilarating, past romance story in which dreams are forged but never fulfilled. Other love poems feature different themes including grief, nostalgia, and excitement. In the poem “Ghost,” the narrator is hopeful about seeing their new lover. Other poems examine family relationships. In the poems, feelings of anger and longing emerge such as in the poem “Dad” in which the narrator wonders about her absent father. Throughout the collection, deep-seated emotions are revealed through different situations and relationships.
