Music is a powerful way to soothe the soul. For Michael, it helped him adjust to tragic losses: first his father, then his wife. He was an American superstar on stage, but there was part of him that always ached for something from his past, someone he knew as a child. He found her again when he returned to his grandfather’s vineyard near Siena to help the aging man who had been a big part of his younger growing-up years. It was also where he had first met Sophia, a feisty presence who never strayed far from his thoughts. His life had become a rollercoaster of emotions, trials and tribulations, and a lot of stress. Would he find his purpose at the vineyard? Find a love he never fully appreciated until now?
Tom Bisogno’s romance novel, Siena My Love, is full of music, which is what drew me to this story, and the everlasting power of true friendship. The author expertly weaves the magical fabric of music through the lives of his characters, developing a plot that primarily spans two countries: the United States and Italy. The characters are well developed and dialogue is used effectively to move the story along. The descriptive narrative sets the scene, inviting the reader right into the story. Divergent courses are taken by two childhood friends as they follow different career paths, Michael following his passion for music and performance as a singer, Sophia and her passion for writing a good story and studying classic literature. The two creative minds weren’t so different, really, and that’s what drew their paths to intersect once again. What they did with this crossing of paths was an interesting development of the friendship that never really dissolved. Siena My Love is an engaging read and a delight for creative minds who love the power of music and the written word and everything that is creative.
