Showdown at Forte Sebastain is an action packed short story that transported me back to the days of the Old West. It is the story of Mister Dupree who wanted to find out about his family. He began tracing his family tree at the Catholic Mission where his birth was registered. He discovered that he was only 4 years old when Johnny Flash killed his entire family. Flash did not know the baby survived. Dupree became a bounty hunter and sought to find and kill the man that destroyed his family. “Vengeance is mine saith the Lord”… but Dupree planned on extracting a little of his own vengeance before sending Flash on to his maker.
This book begins in the present, big city life, cell phones, and telemarketers. However, when he started his search, I felt like we moved back in time. This book reads like an old time western where you expect to meet outlaws and cattle rustlers, and Indian tribes. It was reminiscent of the gold rush days. I was reminded of John Wayne movies with the final showdown and the guns a-blazing. Instead Dupree used a snipers scope and a LCD screen. This action-packed short book leads the reader to an explosive ending that leaves one wondering.
