Sherlock Holmes & The Silver Cord by M. K. Wiseman is an exhilarating work of fan fiction featuring Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson on their adventures. Having survived the deadly standoff with Professor Moriarty on the renowned doomed cliff and after three years in hiding, Sherlock Holmes reunites with Dr. Watson at 221B Baker Street. Soon, Mrs. Jones, a widow, asks them to find out who keeps sending her what looks like pages from her private diary about her amorous indulgence with Percy Simmons, her husband’s friend. Before long, Percy Simmons, who now runs a secret magic sect, asks them to investigate the strange malady affecting members of his sect. What will the famous sleuth and his loyal aide discover?
Sherlock Holmes & The Silver Cord by M. K. Wiseman enthralled me instantly with action-packed mystery, suspense, and irony. The investigations pursued by Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson and their ingenious antics kept me turning the pages. I was astounded by Dr. Watson’s non-medical method of healing an unresponsive patient. The author’s atmospheric writing style made this joyful reunion with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson even more special. But most of all, I liked the reflective psychological portrayal of Sherlock Holmes when he analyses the meaning of his life, viewing it through the prism of his quests. I highly recommend this brilliant story to crime fiction, thriller, and adventure fans, especially to Sherlock Holmes fans longing to read about his never-heard-of-before adventures.
