Self Love Notes: Uplifting Poetry, Affirmations & Quotes is a collection of poetic works and additional material designed to inspire and motivate, and was penned and put together by author Michelle G Stradford. The work is separated into three distinct sections called Worth, Vision, and Uplift, and these three elements represent a journey to complete self-love as we are guided to value ourselves and envision a better future that we can allow ourselves to seek and enjoy. With well over one hundred verses and ideas to consider, this is an indispensable guide to realizing your own worth and finding a happier you in the process.
One of the things which I most admired about this work was the candor with which author Michelle G Stradford approached it, admitting her own issues with self-esteem and how cathartic this writing process was for her. Poetry is so often deeply personal to the author, but Stradford writes in a way that opens her verses up for others to explore and attribute their own meanings. It does what all good motivational works should in leading by example but never being judgmental or unkind to those who are only just starting the process of self-care and self-actualization. Some of my particular favorites came later in the book, in Uplift, where you can really see the author’s own journey to rise in success on their solo trip and be proud of their achievements. Overall, I would definitely recommend Self Love Notes to anyone who needs a boost on the road to better esteem.
