Seeking the Face of Love by Hadrian Bradley is about changes individuals can make which could result in substantial changes in our world. Learning to live with love and in the light is how he recommends eliminating the hatred and suffering we see every day. Bradley believes that Christ came to earth from God to eliminate religion and replace it with love. He writes about organized religions and the many failings they have, particularly the prejudices and condemnation they encourage. He feels that religions are male, heterosexual based and therefore intolerant of any other population. Conservative Christian religions base their beliefs on the Bible, but Bradley suggests that the Bible is not historical. He says that there are too many contradictions within it to believe it is a complete plan for a spiritual life. Hadrian Bradley advocates using only passages in the Bible that inspire us to love. Seeking the Face of Love is also about protecting your spirit from negative or dark energy of others.
The messages in Seeking the Face of Love by Hadrian Bradley are thought provoking. From the beginning there was a lot of criticism of religions and politicians. Bradley expresses his views very directly and I feel sometime he goes a bit far. That being said, the book is well written and the ideas he proposes seem to make sense. Christ’s message was to live with love. Many organized religions instead tend to separate us. Bradley describes how left wing politicians and evangelical Christian churches condemn anyone who does not believe as they do. They use passages from the Bible to prove that they are correct when there are other Bible passages that say the opposite. I recommend this book to anyone on a spiritual path. The ideas presented are radical but interesting.
