Season by Ritu Ahlawat is a collection of heartwarming poems filled with raw and real experiences. Readers partake in Ritu's exploration of love, insecurity, dreams, heartbreak, and other evocative themes. Poem of Love is a gift to a lover in the form of a poem. It contains expressions of assurance, affection, and closeness. Another poem, Worth, reveals vulnerable moments and thoughts about writing to get an ego boost. In Rehab, the author shares the need to rehab her mind and the sad reality of looking for an escape. The poems are grouped into five sections: Spring, Summer, Rain, Autumn, and Winter. Each section contains poems that beautifully reflect its title. Thus, various human emotions are linked to the earth's different seasons in these brilliant, metaphoric poems.
The poems in Season are enjoyable to read and ponder over. Ritu Ahlawat's words are simple yet packed with deep meaning and thought-provoking metaphors that both core poetry fans and casual readers will appreciate. One of my favorite poems, Fool’s Paradise, describes enjoying another's presence as "listening to your melodies." I appreciated this line because it reminded me of how much I enjoy singing in the presence of my loved ones. Since the poems are grouped into seasons, I knew what to expect from each section. The poems also shine a light on the diversity of emotions and the richness of life. From sad moments and heartbreak to joyful love and wholesome desires, the poems offer a breathtaking, evocative journey. Season compels you to feel deep emotions, reminisce about past love, and connect to the author's profound moments. I look forward to reading her other poems since I had a wonderful time with this collection.
