Searching for my Faith is a tale based on real-life stories and events in the life of author Frederick Munch. This work of non-fiction takes readers on a journey of happiness, sorrow, and redemption. Starting with Munch at a young age, his determination to make his father proud leads him to pursue the career choice of State Police Officer. But the journey is not always smooth sailing and he faces many hurdles. There are challenges to joining the police department and helping his wife adjust to unfamiliar surroundings. As time passes, his life gradually gets more complicated, his faith wavering, leaving Munch lost in a world of doubt and hatred. What results is a bittersweet tale that brings readers into Munch’s personal discovery of God’s force and existence in his day-to-day life.
Searching for my Faith is a beautifully written account of one man's discovery of God. Frederick Munch’s tale is filled with the reality of growing up in Christ: that we fall out of faith from time to time. The guilt that follows explores the idea of knowing that there is a God, but at the same time struggling to explain why bad things keep on happening. Turning from a believer into an atheist is a very real issue addressed in Munch’s in-depth writing. I thought that this was a beautiful journey about finding God and faith at the most unlikely place and time. It really grounded me, bringing me closer to God and understanding that we have to take a step back and let the Lord lead the way when all other paths seem to be sealed shut. Searching for my Faith is breathtaking and gorgeous non-fiction that I simply cannot recommend highly enough.
