Scribbles from the Middling Cat is a collection of prose and poems by R.S. Vern. Inspired by the scribbles of Haee, a meddling cat, the author has written a thought-provoking book with captivating art. The book covers insecurities about having a crooked tail, ways to kill an ant, wanting to sleep and not be bothered, and avoiding people but wishing to be among them or like them. The middling cat also discusses social issues like careers, marriage, grief, taxes, investing money, recession, the holidays, and many more topics such as loneliness, the fear of a tumor, anxiety disorder, and allergies. Get a copy of this book and see life through Haee’s eyes.
I loved reading Scribbles from the Middling Cat because it is random and unique. R.S. Vern uses a simple concept of viewing life from a middling cat's perspective but expands it into an analysis of human existence and everyday living. The author has incorporated lessons about finances, believing in yourself and your dreams, living in the moment, and has raised awareness about depression and anxiety. Some notes are funny and will put a smile on your face. The book is well-written with a consistent format. The notes are journal entries with bold headings, dates, and times of the day. The author has included some illustrations referenced in the notes. The images are random, from chairs and scissors to people and scribbles. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves reading random quotes about life and books that view human living from a different perspective.
