Sam and the Fly, written and illustrated by Sheryl Tidlund, is the first of hopefully many books about Sam and his adventures. Sam is a Boxer and he is a good watchdog. He enjoys playing with his toys and take naps. However, one day his nap is interrupted by a fly buzzing around. Once the fly landed on Sam’s nose, the chase was on. Around and around the fly buzzed and around and around went Sam chasing it, until they were both worn out and both need to rest.
Sheryl Tidlund has written and illustrated a cute and entertaining children’s book that will be enjoyed by children of all ages. it is also is a must-have for owners of Boxers. Sam looks like a lovable pet and is described accurately as a family pet, based upon his habits and actions. Watching pets chase flies (or anything similar for that matter!) is entertaining and this story will entertain you and have you falling in love with Sam. There are very few words to each page and the words are simple, making this a good book for beginner readers. The illustrations are very well done and are adorable. They complement the text nicely and children will enjoy them. Sam and the Fly is an excellent start to the series and I am looking forward to seeing many more books about Sam in the future to read, enjoy and share.
