Salsa!: 80 Great Recipes! by Renee Benzaim, is a collection of recipes that will leave your mouth watering and will have you heading out of the door to run to your local farmer’s market. Benzaim begins with a brief introduction to describe what exactly salsa is as well as her own experience with salsa, including the many varieties, over the years. This cookbook is divided into four main sections. The first section is a collection of fresh salsa recipes, meaning that all the ingredients are fresh. The second section in the book is filled with various types of fruit salsas. The next section contains recipes that are cooked salsas or salsa that contains some canned or bottled ingredients. The last section is a group of Benzaim’s favorite recipes to accompany salsa, including a recipe for flour tortillas, varieties of guacamole, and taco seasoning, to name a few.
Renee Benzaim has opened my eyes to the many varieties of salsa in her cookbook, Salsa!: 80 Great Recipes! I enjoy eating salsa often; however it is usually with the same types of food each time, such as tacos or tortilla chips. After opening up this cookbook, I feel as if I have so many things to try; not only salsa recipes that sound delicious and vary from the typical variety, but also foods to accompany salsa and be enjoyed together. My favorite feature of Benzaim’s cookbook is how the recipes are divided; this makes planning which recipe to make so much easier as it depends on the type of salsa one wishes to make and enjoy, not only the ingredients but the cooking style as well.
